      Text - Traill of Blebo -
      James Traill, of Magask and Blebo, had a Precept of Sasine for the lands of Blebo as heir to Euphemia Traill, his mother, on 9 January, 1458, and m. to Marion Wemyss. He d. by August of 1475 and had issue,
      John Traill, of Blebo, had an Instrument of Sasine for the lands of Overmagask following upon a resignation by Marion Wemyss, widow of James Traill of Blebo, his father, to himself and James Traill, his eldest son on 7 August, 1475. He d. by March of 1490 and was father of,
      James Traill, of Blebo, had a charter for the lands of Overmagask as heir to John Traill of Blebo, his father, from Sir John Kinninmont of that Ilk on 26 June, 1479. He was retoured heir to his father in the lands of Blebo and the sixth-part of the lands of Clatto on 23 March, 1490, was appointed sheriff-Depute of the Shire of Fife and m. to Euphemia Blair. He was father of,
      John Traill, of Blebo, succeeded to these lands and m. by 9 August, 1542, to Agnes, daughter of Alexander Bruce, 1st of Earlshall, when he granted to her an Instrument of Sasine for parts of his lands of Blebo. He d. on 4 June, 1580, and was father of,
      1. John Traill, younger of Blebo, m. to Agnes, daughter of James Learmonth, of Dairsie, (c/d 12 December, 1534. She m. secondly by February of 1551 to Robert Hamilton, Chamberlain of St. Andrews) d. prior to October of 1549, and was father of,
      1a} Grissell Traill, m. by 12 November, 1549, to William Hunter, eldest son and heir of David Hunter, of Balcarres, when they had a charter of confirmation for the lands of Balcarres and had issue.
      1b} Agnes Traill, resigned her sixth-part of the lands of Magask into the hands of the superior Patrick Kinninmont of Craighall for infeftment in favour of Alexander Traill of Blebo on 13 December, 1564. She m. to George Livingston in Craigfoodie.
      1c} Marion Traill, resigned her rights to her father's estate in favour of the heir male Alexander Traill, of Blebo on 12 February, 1565. She m. to David Seaton, of Rumgally, (c/d 20 February, 1551).
      1d} Helen Traill, m. to Peter Arnot of Balcormo and had a payment from her curators on 6 August, 1566, in which she is styled as his future spouse.
      1e} Elspeth Traill, m. in 1567 to Robert Hamilton, Minister at St. Andrews.
      1f} Margaret Traill, m. to William Archibald, of Blackhall. All of which sisters and their respective spouses entered into a contract with their paternal uncle Alexander Traill of Blebo for annualrents to be uplifted from certain of his lands on 25 January, 1570.

      3. Andrew Traill, attained the rank of Colonel in the army and obtained the lands of Beley. He m. to Helen, daughter of Thomas Morton, of Cambo, (she d. on 13 February, 1608,) d. on 25 July, 1586, and was father of,
      3a} David Traill, b. in 1553 and d. in 1554.
      3a} Elspeth Traill, b. in 1554 and m. to Troilus Lawson (c/d 15 November, 1573).
      3a} James Traill, of Dunino, b. in 1555 and obtained these lands. He m. firstly to Matilda, daughter of John Melville, of Carnbee, (c/d 15 October, 1595. She d. on 23 November, 1608,) secondly in 1609 to Grizel, daugher of William Morton, of Randerston, and d. on 26 April, 1635. He had issue.
      3a} David Traill, b. in 1557 and m. Alison Duncan (c/d 26 May, 1577). He d. prior to March of 1590 and had issue,
      3b} Janet Traill, b. on 23 February, 1578, and m. on 26 August, 1606, to Henry Greif.
      3b} Margaret Traill, b. on 3 July, 1580, and m. on 26 October, 1615, to David Boswell.
      3a} Grizel Traill, b. in 1560.
      4. Agnes Traill, m. to Robert Bethune, 10th of Balfour, and had issue.
      Alexander Traill, of Blebo, had resignations in his favour from Agnes and Helen Traill, daughters and coheiresses of his brother John Traill, younger of Blebo, for the lands of Blebo on 13 December, 1564, and 12 February, 1565, and m. to Elizabeth, daughter of Ferny of that Ilk, (Dispensation dated 7 October, 1549, due to their being related within the fourth degree of consanguinity. She d. in August of 1590), with whom, as his promised spouse, he had an Instrument of Sasine from John, Archbishop of St. Andrews, for the lands of Blebo on 17 October, 1549, in which he is styled as son of John Traill of Blebo. He d. in April of 1590 and was father of,
      1. John Traill, of Blebo, (see below).
      2. Thomas Traill, 1st of Blebohill, m. in 1596 to Elizabeth, daughter of John Bonar, of Lumquhat, and obtained the lands of Blebohill on 12 December, 1610. He was father of,
      2a} John Traill, 2nd of Blebohill, had an Instrument of Sasine for the lands of Blebohill as heir to his deceased father on 8 October, 1642, and was father of,
      2b} Thomas Traill, 3rd of Blebohill, had an Instrument of Sasine for the lands of Blebohill fromhis father on 4 June, 1663, to be held by himself and his future spouse Magdalen, daughter of the deceased George Lundie, brother german of the deceased John Lundie of that Ilk, whom he m. on 19 June, 1663. He was father of,
      2c} John Traill, 4th of Blebohill, c. at Kemback on 18 March, 1665, had an Instrument of Sasine for these lands on 15 November, 1686, and m. to Anne Beveridge. He d. in 1699 and had issue,
      2d} John Traill, c. at Ceres on 6 March, 1695, and d. young.
      2d} Robert Traill, c. at Ceres on 3 June, 1697, and d. young.
      2d} Isabel Traill, c. at Ceres on 13 September, 1690, was retoured heir to her father on 16 November, 1728, and is styled as only child of the decesed John Traill of Blebohill when she granted the lands of Blebohill to Margaret Bonar, spouse of Thomas Graham, of Greigstone, on 6 November, 1728.
      2d} Magdalen Traill, c. at Ceres on 24 December, 1692, and d. young.
      2c} Thomas Traill, c. at Kemback on 16 Sepember, 1668, and became a Writer in Dundee. He m. to Euphemia, second daughter of James Lindsay, Merchant in Kirriemuir, d. on 8 June, 1730, and had issue
      2d} George Traill, b. in 1728 and was charged by Thomas Graham of Greigston to enter heir to his father in the lands of Blebohill and a tenement in Kirriemuir on 16 November, 1738.
      2c} Isabel Traill, c. at Kemback on 25 September, 1673, m. at Cameron on 7 September, 1701, to Robert Bonar, second son of John Bonar, 2nd of of Greigstoun, and had issue.
      2c} Anna Traill, c. at Kemback on 25 September, 1673, and m. at Cameron on 25 June, 1708, to Thomas Simpson, in Wilkiestoun.
      3. George Traill, moved to Orkney and m. firstly to Jean, daughter of Kennedy of Carmucks. He m. secondly to Isabel Craigie and d. in 1634. He had issue.
      4. Patrick Traill, m. firstly to Katherine Lutter, (c/d 3 May, 1590,) and secondly in 1608 to Margaret Lindsay, and d. in 1615.
      5. Janet Traill, m. firstly to John White of Lumbany, secondly John Ramsay, of Ardbeckie, (he was killed at the battle of Pinkie in September of 1547), and had issue ; and thirdly prior to 21 February, 1558, to Sir John Wemyss, of Wemyss, (he was widow of Margaret, daughter of Sir Adam Otterburn, of Redhall, by whom he had issue) and had issue.
      6. Agnes Traill, m. to John Schevez, 4th of Kemback, and had issue.
      John Traill, of Blebo, m. to Janet, daughter of Patrick Kinninmont of that Ilk, (c/d 25 May, 1583. She d. on 22 June, 1609,) with whom, as his future spouse, he had an Instrument of Sasine for the lands of Blebo and Blebohill on 3 October, 1583. He d. on 13 January, 1625, and was father of,
      1. John Traill, younger of Blebo, (see below).
      2. Alexander Traill, of Clatto, had an annualrent to be uplifted from the lands of Mains of Blebo from his father on 3 July, 1600, and obtained the lands of Clatto by 25 November, 1613, when he had the ward of his nephew John Traill, of Blebo, assigned to himself.
      3. Patrick Traill, had an annualrent to be uplifted from the lands of Mains of Blebo from his father on 3 July, 1600, and which he assigned to his elder brother Alexander Traill on 19 May, 1619.
      4. Elizabeth Traill, m. to Alexander Ramsay, son and heir of James Ramsay of Ardbeckie (c/d 27 December, 1611).
      John Traill, younger of Blebo, m. to Margaret, sister of James Chisholm, of Cromlix, (c/d 19 August, 1606. She m. secondly by 8 March, 1631, to Alexander Stewart when she granted her liferent of the lands of Mains of Blebo to James Forbes, of Kilmanie), d. vitae patris and had a charter for the lands of Magask from David Kinninmont of Craighall, the superior, following upon a resignation made in his favour by his father on 1 May, 1608. was father of,
      John Traill, of Blebo, succeeded his grandfather and is styled as John Traill, now of Blebo, son of John Triall, younger of Blebo, son of John Traill of Blebo, in a claim by his uncle Alexander Traill for certain rights on 29 January, 1629. He sold the lands of Blebo to Sir William Murray of Claremont in 1630.
