      Text The document is initialled JGH. Given the fact that he refers to Henrietta Moodie as "his dear mother", the author can only be John George Heddle.

      Transcription:

      Robert Heddle + Henrietta Moodie were married at Melsetter in the Parish of Walls, Orkney, the 28th Nov 1818 by the Reverend James Bremner (sp?) Minister of Walls + Flotta.

      John George Heddle was born at Melsetter 26th September 1819 and baptized by the Reverend John Gerrard Minister of South Ronaldshay 6th November 1819.

      James Alexander Heddle was born at Melsetter 15th February 1821 and baptized by the Rev. James Bremner Minister of Walls + Flotta 28th May 1821, and died at Hackney near London 15th January 1830. And is interred in Saint Thomas Square interrment ground there.

      Elizabeth Dunbar Heddle was born at Melsetter 8th March 1823 and baptized by the Rev. James Bremner 26th April 1823.

      Henrietta Moodie Heddle was born at Melsetter the 18th December 1824 and baptized by the Reverend Thomas Bremner, assistant Minister of Walls + Flotta the 24th April 1825.

      Robert Heddle was born at Melsetter 4th October and baptized by the Reverend Thomas Bremner 8th December 1826.

      Matthew Forster Heddle was born at Melsetter the 28th April 1828 and baptized by the Reverend Gavin Ca__lton (sp?) Minister of Hoy and Graemsay the 19th June 1828.

      Mary Bury Heddle, born at Edinburgh the 28th May 1830 and baptized by the Rev. Thomas Chalmers, Professor of Theology in the University of Edinburgh the 16th July 1830. Entered in the Register at Kirkwall Orkney. She died at Papdale (sp?) near Kirkwall 10th June 1831 and is interred in St. Magnus Church.

      Mary Bury Heddle, born at Kirkwall 27th May 1832 and baptized at Melsetter 22nd October by the Reverend Zachary Hamilton, assistant Minister at Walls + Flotta. She died in Kirkwall 5th February 1833 and is interred in St Magnus Church.

      2nd July 1833. On this day my dear mother died at Queen Street, Edinburgh and is buried in the family burying place in the Canongate church yard, No. 43., beside her father the late Major James Moodie.

      Robert Heddle was married secondly to Elizabeth Sutherland at Steward Field by Jedburgh ___ of April 1835. And without issue by her, died at Kirkwall 28th January 1842 and is buried in St. Magnus Cathedral.
