The source says that Harriet Sarle was born 1786, but it must be 1796 as that is what is written on her gravestone and also 1796 would put the children into chronological order in the bible list. Source: Magazine - Orkney and Shetland Miscellany - Viking Club - Vol 1 - 1907-1908
Record provided by Anne Green, wife of Harry and Violet's son Harry. Source: Marriage record - Harry Henry Green + Violet May Horton 1943
From Hamish Johnston: Note that the modern addition underneath contains some errors - in the spelling of DGJ's first two names, and in the birth date of Matilda. I am not responsible! Source: Memorial - Heddle memorial stone in St. Andrews cathedral burial ground
Photo of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry (Wentworth Regiment) taken in 1941. Hanging in the stairwell leading to the Officers Mess, in the John Foote Armouries, 200 James St. North, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Source: Memorial - Photo of RHLI Wentworth Regiment in John Foote Armouries
The land for the Church of the Ascension was donated by the McLaren family - i think Henry + Mary McLaren who lived in Oak Bank, Hamilton.

I presume the linked F. W. Gates is correct, rather than his father who was also F.W. I can't be sure though.

These papers were included in the Heddle family bible, passed from John George Moodie Heddle to his son John George Flett Moodie Heddle, then on to his brother Charles Alexander Moodie Heddle (JGFM Heddle had no descendents), and then to Charles's son Dunbar, his son John, and then his son Robert. The note is not signed by JGFMH but a note by his nephew Dunbar identifies it. Source: Personal - JGF Moodie Heddle notes in Heddle family bible
